A Spotlight on Space-tech Startups

There is more to space than just rocket science! From agriculture, to tourism and even data analytics, there are many companies using space technology for a variety of innovative business applications.

Welcome to Space Investment Day. A full day digital event which aims to shine the spotlight on space-tech startups, investors, entrepreneurs and visionaries. On the 18th of November tune in for our live broadcast to see pitches by exciting space start-ups, inspirational talks from key figures within the Nordic and international space ecosystem.

We are using a platform called Brella to create the virtual conference experience. A week before the 18th of November attendees will get access to the Brella platform. All attendees will be able to network on Brella from the 15th - 19th of November.  We have not called the event Space Investment Day for nothing. Supporting the Ecosystem 🌎

Do space startups really need business incubators?

Popular definition states that the goal of a business incubator is to help firms develop, and improve their chances for success. What, however, does this mean in practice and to what extent are incubators responsible for mediating and facilitating this success?

In this panel discussion, our experts discuss differing priorities and how to best support space startups at different phases of their development, touching on topics such as market fit and sustainable growth.

If you’re interested in the dynamics between innovation, support structures and market validation, then don’t miss this chance to get the inside, expert scoop.

Panel guests:

  • Karin Holmquist (Head of Innovation Programme Strategy at the Swedish Space Corporation)
  • Frank Salzgeber (Head of Innovation and Ventures Office at the European Space Agency)
  • Jens Lundström (CEO of Arctic Business and MD ESA BIC Sweden)
  • Emma Hansson (Project Leader of ESA BIC Sweden)

SPACE OPTIMISM: What can the history of space exploration tell us about solving Earth's biggest challenges?

Space optimism is a story of technological but also intellectual and emotional moonshots that help us re-kindle what is best about humanity. Our sense for curiosity, willingness to embrace uncertainty and the collective fascination for positive utopias are now in greater demand than ever if we are to solve climate change, reboot our economies for greater good and brush away cynicism and apathy.
